Whether you face a PhD viva, a research master's examination or a short presentation of your final year project, the questions tend to land on the same spots. Esmond shows you where those spots are in your own text.
See how Esmond worksArrangements differ across institutions and programmes. Depending on your programme there may be a viva voce examination, a presentation or demonstration of your project, or an assessment of the written text alone. Your programme handbook says what applies to you.
Every Esmond report includes questions an examiner might ask, tied to specific passages in your work. They are not a prediction of what will be asked, and nobody can promise that. They are a way to rehearse the conversations your weakest arguments are likely to start.
Use them to practise out loud: answer each one in a minute or two, without notes, and note which ones you cannot answer cleanly. Those are the passages to revisit if you still can, or to prepare a careful explanation for if the text is already submitted.
You upload your draft as a PDF. Short documents come back within minutes; a full dissertation takes longer. You get two things back: your own document with comments in the margin, and a separate feedback report that sets out what to tackle first. Every upload starts with a free preview, and the price follows the length of your document and is shown before you pay. No subscription, no account.
Esmond evaluates your work and writes nothing for you. Each comment points to a passage, explains what a supervisor or examiner might question, and gives a direction for revising it. You decide what to change, and every sentence stays yours.

Yes. Many students do that to prepare for a viva or presentation. The feedback then works as a list of points to be ready to discuss.
No. It shows where questions are likely and why. Your answers and your slides are your own work.
