Students often write the first two well and then run out of room, ending with 'the findings are discussed and recommendations are made', which tells the reader nothing.
A second pattern is the abstract written from the proposal. It describes a method you later adjusted, or announces findings in the future tense. Because the abstract is often one of the first things a second marker or external examiner sees, a mismatch here colours how the rest is read.
Some programmes ask for a structured abstract with headings, common in health sciences; others expect one continuous paragraph. Some want keywords underneath.
