Irish students reference in many styles, depending on their discipline and programme. Esmond never questions the style you use. It looks at what matters more for your argument: whether your sources do the work you ask of them.
See how Esmond worksHarvard and APA author-date styles are widespread in business, social sciences, education and health. Law students typically use OSCOLA, often with its Irish adaptation. MHRA and Chicago footnote styles are common in history, English and other humanities. Vancouver appears in medicine and some health programmes, and IEEE in engineering and computing.
Which one you must use, and which version, is set by your programme or module. Esmond takes that as given. In the intake you can tell it which style you use, or choose 'Don't know'. If your handbook names a particular guide or edition, follow that one rather than a generic example found online: versions of the same style differ in small details.
Esmond does not correct italics, punctuation or the order of elements in a reference entry. Reference managers and your library's style guides do that job better. It also does not open the publications you cite, so it cannot confirm that a page number is right. What it can do is show where the way you lean on a source would make a careful reader stop.
You upload your draft as a PDF. Short documents come back within minutes; a full dissertation takes longer. You get two things back: your own document with comments in the margin, and a separate feedback report that sets out what to tackle first. Every upload starts with a free preview, and the price follows the length of your document and is shown before you pay. No subscription, no account.
Esmond evaluates your work and writes nothing for you. Each comment points to a passage, explains what a supervisor or examiner might question, and gives a direction for revising it. You decide what to change, and every sentence stays yours.
Esmond is preparing its launch in Ireland and is not taking orders here yet. This page explains what the review does, so you know what to expect when it opens.
Yes. You can tell Esmond your style in the intake. The review looks at whether your authorities support your legal argument, not at the formatting.
No. The style is your programme's choice and is never questioned.
