Feedback on your research question

Your supervisor approved your topic. The harder test is whether every chapter you wrote serves the question you set. Esmond follows that question through your draft and shows where the text answers something else.

We take your question as given

Esmond does not argue with your choice of topic or tell you to research something different. Your question was agreed with your supervisor, and that is where the decision belongs. What a review can do is look at how the question is worded and how faithfully the dissertation stays with it.

Where research questions go wrong in practice

What the review checks

Esmond reads the question in your introduction, then looks at whether your literature review builds towards it, whether your method can produce an answer of the kind the question asks for, and whether your conclusion actually responds to it in its own words. Where the line breaks, you get a comment at that passage explaining what drifted and a direction for bringing it back.

This works for empirical, theoretical and doctrinal work alike. In a law dissertation the question might be whether a statute achieves its stated purpose; in a history project it might be how a debate changed over a decade. The check is the same: does the text answer what it asks?

How it works

You upload your draft as a PDF. Short documents come back within minutes; a full dissertation takes longer. You get two things back: your own document with comments in the margin, and a separate feedback report that sets out what to tackle first. Every upload starts with a free preview, and the price follows the length of your document and is shown before you pay. No subscription, no account.

Esmond evaluates your work and writes nothing for you. Each comment points to a passage, explains what a supervisor or examiner might question, and gives a direction for revising it. You decide what to change, and every sentence stays yours.

Frequently asked questions

Can Esmond help me choose a research question?

No. Choosing and agreeing your question is between you and your supervisor. Esmond evaluates how a written draft handles the question you already have.

I only have a research proposal. Is that useful to upload?

Yes. Choose 'Research proposal' in the intake. The review then looks at whether your question, aims and planned method fit together.
