Reflective writing is common in nursing, teaching, social care and business programmes, and it is often harder than it looks. Esmond reads your reflection and shows where it stays at description, and where it turns into real learning.
See how Esmond worksA reflective piece is written in the first person, about your own experience. That makes it easy to spend most of the word count telling what happened. Lecturers usually want the opposite balance: a short account of the situation, then most of the space on what it meant, why you reacted as you did, and what you would change.
Many students use a reflective model such as Gibbs' reflective cycle, Kolb or Driscoll's 'what, so what, now what'. Those models help, but following the headings does not make a reflection deep. Esmond reads whether each stage actually does its work.
You upload your draft as a PDF. Short documents come back within minutes; a full dissertation takes longer. You get two things back: your own document with comments in the margin, and a separate feedback report that sets out what to tackle first. Every upload starts with a free preview, and the price follows the length of your document and is shown before you pay. No subscription, no account.
Esmond evaluates your work and writes nothing for you. Each comment points to a passage, explains what a supervisor or examiner might question, and gives a direction for revising it. You decide what to change, and every sentence stays yours.
Esmond is preparing its launch in Ireland and is not taking orders here yet. This page explains what the review does, so you know what to expect when it opens.
A reflection is personal by definition, and that is exactly why nothing should be written for you. Esmond does not supply reflections, feelings or lessons learned. It asks the questions a lecturer would ask of your text, so you can answer them in your own words.
Esmond reads the structure you use. If you follow a model, it looks at whether each stage carries real content. It does not know which model your module requires, so check your module handbook.
Remove names and identifying details first, as your programme will expect anyway. Your original file and the extracted text are deleted once your feedback is ready. Your report and the annotated version stay available for 90 days and are then deleted automatically. What you upload is never used to train AI.
