At Griffith College, every assignment brief should tell you which kinds of AI use are allowed, using the College's AI Assessment Scale. Anything not listed as permitted may be assumed to be prohibited. Here is how the scale works (checked October 2026).
See how Esmond worksGriffith College's AI in Learner Assessment Policy (section 6.5 of its assessment regulations) sets four rules for the scale:
Lecturers choose or exclude each category separately, so a brief can allow planning but not editing, or the other way round.
The policy notes that a professional or regulatory body can restrict a programme further, naming ACCA exemptions and the Law Society of Ireland as examples. In such programmes the use of AI in assessments may be strictly prohibited. Law and accounting students in particular should read their brief closely.
The scale does not list evaluation tools by name, and we will not place Esmond in a category for you. Only your lecturer can say whether your brief allows a feedback tool. If the brief says No AI Use, do not upload your work to Esmond for that assignment. If it allows a category you think covers feedback, confirm it and declare the use as the policy requires.
Esmond evaluates; it does not write. You upload your own draft and get comments in the margin plus a report that shows where your argument, method or use of sources is weaker, and why. It does not write or rewrite your text: it points to the weak spot and gives a direction for revising it. Where a comment includes an example, it illustrates a principle; the sentence you submit is one you write yourself.
Griffith College has no connection with Esmond and has not endorsed it. Be straight with yourself: Esmond works with language models, so using it is a form of AI use. Rules on AI differ per university, programme, module and assignment. Check your module or programme handbook before you upload, and if it is unclear, ask your supervisor or module coordinator and declare the use if your institution asks you to.
This page summarises what the institution publishes, with links to the source. It is not legal advice and not a ruling on your assignment: what your programme, module or supervisor sets always comes first.
No. Esmond is independent. Griffith College has no connection with Esmond and has not endorsed it.
The policy expects every brief to state the permitted categories, and treats anything not listed as prohibited. Ask your lecturer before you use any AI tool.

Esmond is preparing its launch in Ireland and is not taking orders here yet. Until then you cannot upload or order anything here; the guides on this site are free to read.
